DIET AND AMYLOSIS

The amylose develops in patients with chronic infections (tuberculosis, chronic suppurative processes), and in autoimmune diseases (rheumatoid arthritis). The basis of amyloidosis is a violation of protein metabolism by the formation of a special protein substance - amylose, which is stored in the small vessels of the kidneys and other organs. Significant changes are recorded in the tubules, a nephrotic syndrome develops. The metabolism of proteins and lipids is often violated.

The main symptoms of the disease:

  1. Excretion of large amounts of protein in the urine - albuminuria
  2. Decreased protein content in the blood (hypoproteinaemia), caused not only by the loss of protein in the urine, but also by the affected protein metabolism
  3. Massive and persistent edema, mainly due to hypoproteinemia
  4. Disorders of lipid metabolism, manifested by an increase in blood cholesterol and the release of lipids (fatty substances) with the urine

At the onset of the disease, in the absence of signs of renal failure, dietary therapy should be aimed at regulating protein metabolism. The patient is prescribed a diet with an increased amount of protein (120-150 g), at least 50% of which is of higher quality in the form of minced meat, fish, cheese and an increased content of substances involved in metabolic processes. : methionine, choline and B vitamins  2 ,  6 ,  12, nicotinic and folic acids. Fats rich in saturated fatty acids and cholesterol are limited, and vegetable oil containing polyunsaturated fatty acids is introduced into the diet. The diet is fortified with vitamin C (150-200 mg), vitamins A, P and calcium to affect the permeability of the hair.

When edema gives a salt-free diet with a salt content in food up to 2-2.5 g, and also limits the introduction of liquid.

You can allocate a diet of 7 with the addition of protein foods, lipotropic factors and vitamins.

In case of a violation of the function of nitrogen secretion in the kidneys, a diet with severe protein restriction is prescribed, and further treatment of the diet is carried out in the same way as with renal failure.

CAUSES AND SYMPTOMS OF AMYLOSIS

One manifestation of total amyloidosis is renal amyloidosis. To date, the causes of this systemic disease are unknown. It is considered that the following factors can lead to this pathology:

  • Genetic predisposition;
  • Hemodialysis;
  • Presence in the body of chronic infectious inflammatory diseases;
  • Over 40 years old.

Very often, with amyloidosis, patients are diagnosed with tuberculosis, syphilis, abscesses, various suppurations. In this case, it is common to talk about secondary amyloidosis, and not about an independent disease. Secondary amyloidosis can occur against the background of rheumatoid arthritis, tumors, endocarditis. Primary amyloidosis is caused by a hereditary factor and genetic changes in the body.

Among other types of amyloidosis, the idiopathic form can be noticed. It is also called the familial form of this disease. In this case, the enzymes are defective at birth. The defect passes from one generation to the next. Senile amyloidosis is also distinguished. Pathology occurs along with other age-related changes in the human body.

Symptoms of amyloidosis may indicate the organ of injury. Symptoms of injuries of the gastrointestinal tract are bright:

  • Swallowing function suppressed;
  • Diarrhea;
  • The constipation ;
  • A tumor in the intestines or stomach;
  • Frequent hoarseness;
  • Weight in the stomach;
  • Nausea, vomiting;
  • Loss of appetite

Amyloids can have an adverse effect on the cardiovascular system. This pathology is accompanied by heart failure, arrhythmia, myocardium. Frequent headaches are accompanied by amyloidosis of the central nervous system. Symptoms of central nervous system disorders may include dizziness, loss of feeling in the extremities, tingling of the fingertips, bedwetting, or fecal incontinence. In men, all of these symptoms can be accompanied by erectile dysfunction or even impotence.

Sometimes amyloidosis affects cartilage and tissue systems. In this case, the characteristic symptoms of the disease are: stiff swelling of the joints, numbness in the extremities, pain in the fingers (mainly pulsation), polyarthritis, periarthritis, enlarged spleen. The frequency of bronchitis, lung tumor, painful voice may indicate the presence of amyloidosis of the respiratory system. In addition, some associated symptoms may occur:

  • Violation of the skin (papules, nodules, venous network);
  • Thyroid dysfunction ;
  • Renal failure ;
  • Anemia;
  • High levels of ESR in the blood;
  • Increased blood cholesterol.
